Himachal Cabinet Approves Key Hydro Projects and Strengthens Healthcare and Education.

In a significant meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has made crucial decisions aimed at bolstering the state’s infrastructure and public services. The Cabinet approved the transfer of the 780 MW Jangi Thopan Powari Hydro Power Project to HP Power Corporation Ltd., while allotting the 1630 MW Renukaji and 270 MW Thana Plaun Pump Storage Hydro Electric Projects to Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd.
A Cabinet Sub Committee was formed to enhance the effectiveness of Rogi Kalyan Samitis, chaired by Health Minister Col. (Dr.) Dhani Ram Shandil. This committee includes key ministers from various departments, reflecting a collaborative approach to health management.
The Cabinet also authorized the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog to announce results for Post Codes 903 and 939, with some positions remaining vacant pending investigations. Moreover, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Solan will be elevated as the apex institution for school and teacher training, while efforts will be made to strengthen 12 District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs).
In an effort to support aspiring students, benefits under the ‘Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Rin Yojna’ will now extend to meritorious students seeking to study abroad, offering loans at a nominal interest rate of one percent.
Healthcare initiatives were also prioritized, with the establishment of 50-bedded Critical Care Blocks at Civil Hospitals in Dehra and Paonta Sahib. Additionally, the Cabinet approved the filling of 100 vacant Assistant Forest Guard positions and various posts in the Printing and Stationery Department.
In a move to enhance law enforcement, a new Police Station will be opened in Sissu, Lahaul-Spiti district, accompanied by the creation of 18 new posts. Other provisions include staffing a new Police Post in Hatli, filling positions in the Home Department, and providing six Mobile Forensic Vans to bolster forensic capabilities.
These comprehensive decisions reflect the Cabinet’s commitment to improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, and public safety across Himachal Pradesh.
