IIT Mandi Student Tragically Dies in Fall Near Aliyas Lake in Lahaul and Spiti Himachal Pradesh.

A tragic accident claimed the life of Mihir Kumar Sinha, an IIT Mandi student, who fell from a hill near Aliyas Lake on October 6, 2024. The incident was reported by his friend Anshul, who was in Sissu with a group of fellow students at the time.

Local authorities swiftly initiated a rescue operation, with the District Police, DDMA, and ITBP collaborating under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarters Keylong. The Police Rescue Team from Koksar played a crucial role in recovering Sinha’s body from the difficult terrain.

Eyewitnesses reported that no foul play was suspected. After recovery, Sinha’s body was taken to the Regional Hospital Keylong, where he was declared dead by the Medical Officer. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for tomorrow, pending the arrival of his parents.

The local police have informed Sinha’s family of the tragic news, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
