Mandi Saksharta Jan Vikas Samiti takes first position in the country in terms of opening micro saving accounts.

Mandi Saksharta and Jan Vikas Samiti has achieved the number one position in the country this year in opening micro savings accounts.
The general meeting of the Samiti was held on Sunday, which was presided over by the Senior Vice President of Samiti Rajender Mohan.
Before the start of meeting, a two-minute silence was also observed to express grief over the demise of Sanjeev Thakur, executive member of the Samiti and former chairman of the Gyan Vigyan Samiti. A condolence resolution was passed and condolences were expressed to the family.
While presenting the annual report in the meeting, Co-Secretary of the Samiti Lalit Sharma said that 16015 micro savings accounts were opened by the Samiti this year. Sharma said that the Samiti has achieved the number one position in the country this year in opening micro savings accounts.
“So far two lakh people have been included in micro insurance in 27 blocks of four districts. Whereas one death claim per day is being borne by the Samiti through Life Insurance Corporation of India. Poor families are getting benefits from this” he added.
“So far this year 47 death claims have been paid, in which 16 have been paid as early death claims. The total amount of death claims comes to around Rs 80 lakh. Similarly, this year we have been successful in creating 30 insurance villages, in which a reward of up to Rs. 1 lakh will be given by Life Corporation of India for opening 100 insurance accounts in the village” said Sharma.
“Apart from this, four farmer producer organisations are working on agriculture, horticulture and dairy in the district run by the Samiti. Due to that the Samiti has provided a loan amount of Rs 5 crore from the bank to 270 joint liability groups” he said.
General Secretary of the Samiti, Bhim Singh said that Seraj valley farmer producer organisation will now package the milk and curd and sell it in the market. It will improve the economy of the rural women in the district.
“This financial year, Samiti is running a financial literacy campaign in 1050 panchayats through Reserve Bank of India in 26 blocks of three districts Mandi, Hamirpur and Kullu, in which five lakh people between 18 to 60 years of age will be included. Under this campaign, camps are being organised in 90 panchayats every month” he said.
He said that in the coming time, the Samiti will run an awareness campaign regarding the increasing menace of drugs in the society.
In the meeting, the founding members of the Samiti Murari Sharma, Bhupender Singh, Jogender Walia, Dr. Vijay Vishal, N.R. Thakur, Naval Sharma, Narpat Ram Verma, Lalit Sharma, Veena Vaidya, Khem Singh, Sevak Ram, Reena, Sunita Devi, Tilak Ram Chauhan, Kanshi Ram, Devender and Gajender Sharma were present.
