Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania today announced his verdict on the petition of Congress against six rebel MLAs of Congress and he disqualified all six Congress MLAs under anti defection law from Vidhan Sabha membership in Himachal.

He said that “six MLAs, who contested on Congress symbol, attracted provisions of anti-defection law against themselves.”

The six rebels of Congress, Sudhir Sharma, Rajender Rana, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Chaitanya, Ravi Thakur and Devender Kumar Bhutto had voted against their own party candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the recently held Rajya Sabha election in Shimla, which paved the way for the win of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan to Rajya Sabha from Himachal. This gave ammunition to the BJP to target the Congress that Congress government in Himachal is in a minority.

The parliamentary affair minister and Congress MLA Harshwardhan Chauhan had submitted a petition against these rebel MLAs to the speaker of HP assembly.

However, these expelled MLAs have threatened to take up their disqualification issue in the high court.
