Himachal Pradesh to Invest Rs. 2415 Crore to Strengthen Tourism Infrastructure: CM Sukhu.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu emphasized the importance of strengthening the tourism infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh, announcing a substantial investment of Rs. 2415 crore in the sector. The announcement was made during a review of the ongoing projects of the Tourism Department, where the Chief Minister highlighted tourism as a crucial pillar of the state’s economy.
To enhance the state’s tourism appeal, Sukhu outlined several key development projects. These include the development of Shiv Dham in Mandi district with an investment of Rs. 150.27 crore, the beautification of Baba Balak Nath Temple in Hamirpur at Rs. 51.70 crore, and beautification projects for Nagrorta Bagwan and Palampur towns in Kangra district at a cost of Rs. 78.09 crore. Additionally, wellness centers will be set up in Nadaun, Nagrota Bagwan, Kullu, and Manali with an investment of Rs. 280.39 crore. The restoration of Naggar Castle in Kullu will also receive Rs. 8.64 crore for conservation efforts.
Sukhu also stressed the state government’s commitment to promoting adventure tourism, with plans for a rafting complex in Nadaun and ice and roller skating rinks in Manali, Dharamsala, and Shimla. These facilities are expected to cost Rs. 163.50 crore and will benefit both tourists and local communities.
To improve connectivity, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of heliports across the state, including in Shimla, Mandi, and Solan districts, and directed the tourism department to expedite the necessary approvals for helicopter services. The government is also considering setting up drone stations in various locations to enhance tourism services. Furthermore, Sukhu instructed officials to ensure seven-day flights on the Dharamsala-Shimla route.
Sukhu emphasized that the tourism and power generation sectors are priorities for the state government and that all efforts would be made to maximize their potential for economic growth. The Chief Minister credited the current administration for increasing tourist inflow, which has made a significant contribution to the state’s economy.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Principal Secretary Tourism Devesh Kumar, HPTDC Chairman Rughvir Singh Bali, and Tourism Director Vivek Bhatia.
