Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 today at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, marking the start of the largest mobility event in India. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi emphasized India’s unprecedented transformation in the mobility sector, driven by the aspirations of the people and the energy of the youth.

The Expo, which is being held across three venues in the National Capital Region, has expanded significantly compared to last year, showcasing more than 9 concurrent shows, 20+ conferences, and pavilions. This year’s edition is expected to host a large number of exhibitors and delegates, with a focus on global participation, highlighting India’s growing prominence in the global mobility sector.

PM Modi lauded the Indian automobile industry, which has grown by nearly 12% over the past year, with car sales exceeding the population of many countries. He noted that India is currently the world’s fifth-largest economy and third-largest passenger vehicle market, a position set to expand as the country moves toward becoming one of the top three global economies.

With a focus on infrastructure and innovation, PM Modi pointed out that ease of travel has become a top priority for India. Over Rs. 11 lakh crore was allocated for infrastructure development in the last year’s budget, and significant progress is being made in the construction of multi-lane highways, expressways, and the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan.

Highlighting the government’s support for the auto industry, PM Modi stressed the importance of the Make in India initiative, which is fueling growth in the auto sector, creating over 1.5 lakh direct jobs, and attracting over $36 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the past four years alone. He also discussed the success of India’s electric mobility sector, where EV sales have surged 640 times in the past decade.

PM Modi also emphasized the importance of green mobility solutions, including the development of Electric Vehicles (EVs), hydrogen fuel, and biofuels, aligning with the country’s focus on reducing its dependence on fossil fuels and cutting the import bill. He announced that initiatives like the National Electric Mobility Mission and the Green Hydrogen Mission are part of India’s vision for a clean and cutting-edge mobility ecosystem.

The Expo’s agenda also focuses on innovation in mobility, with advancements in connected vehicles and autonomous driving. The government has launched various schemes, such as FAME-2 and PM E-Drive, to support the adoption of electric vehicles, with the goal of enhancing the EV infrastructure across the country, including the installation of over 70,000 fast chargers.

The event was attended by several prominent dignitaries, including Union Ministers for Road Transport and Highways, Housing and Urban Affairs, Heavy Industries and Steel, Commerce and Industry, and others.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 will continue until January 22, showcasing India’s leadership in the global mobility landscape and offering opportunities for collaboration and innovation across the mobility value chain.
