The meeting took place at his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg on January 24, 2025, a day ahead of the national celebration.
During the event, Prime Minister Modi expressed his admiration for the participants, praising their commitment and highlighting the importance of their roles in showcasing India’s vibrant culture, diversity, and the spirit of unity. Many of the attendees shared their excitement about meeting the Prime Minister in person, with some citing it as a testament to the strength of India’s democracy.
In one of the interactions, a participant from Munger, Bihar, spoke of the global recognition of the region for its contributions to yoga. The Prime Minister acknowledged this, noting how yoga has gained worldwide prominence under India’s leadership. Similarly, a participant from Odisha inquired about the true meaning of success, to which PM Modi shared a motivational response, urging never to accept failure but to learn from it in order to achieve greatness.
The Prime Minister also spoke passionately about his motivation and source of energy, revealing that meeting young people like the participants reinvigorates him. He emphasized the importance of learning from the tireless work ethic of farmers and soldiers, suggesting that this sense of duty should inspire everyone to stay dedicated to their roles.
Drawing from his own experience as an NCC cadet, Modi encouraged the young people to maintain the discipline of waking up early, a habit that has helped him achieve more in his life. Reflecting on the concept of learning from great historical figures, the Prime Minister urged the participants to draw lessons from leaders like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to help serve the nation.
The conversation turned reflective when a participant from a Kashmiri Pandit family shared how the Republic Day preparations had taught her self-independence, including managing household chores. Modi highlighted the essence of “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat” as a vital learning from the experience, emphasizing the importance of unity in diversity.
Discussing India’s technological advancements, PM Modi pointed out the pivotal role of Digital India in enabling affordable access to technology, including video conferencing and digital payments. He proudly remarked on India’s success in making data accessible to even the poorest, thereby enhancing communication across the country.
On the subject of youth empowerment, the Prime Minister acknowledged the role of the MY Bharat platform, which has seen over three crore young people engage in activities ranging from debates to essay writing competitions. Modi urged the participants to register on the portal, encouraging them to contribute actively to India’s future development.
The conversation also focused on environmental responsibility, with PM Modi introducing the “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam” initiative, urging everyone to plant a tree in honor of their mother and ensure it thrives. In a touching moment, when speaking to a participant from Arunachal Pradesh, the Prime Minister celebrated the region’s unique cultural practices and natural beauty, encouraging people to explore the northeastern states of India. Modi also spoke about the efforts made by NSS teams across the country, highlighting initiatives such as connecting artisans from Dumka, Jharkhand, with new market opportunities.
To further support local businesses, the Prime Minister called on youth to assist artisans in registering their products on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), which could help them gain access to broader markets. Sharing his vision for empowering rural women, he discussed the success of the “Lakhpati Didi” program, which aims to transform women in self-help groups into successful entrepreneurs.
