Shimla:
In a significant meeting held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh State Cabinet approved a series of key decisions, including the draft of the Governor’s address to be delivered on the inaugural day of the 8th session of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, scheduled for March 10, 2025.
One of the prominent decisions was the approval to table the 2023-24 report of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India during the upcoming budget session of the Vidhan Sabha.
The Cabinet also endorsed the creation and filling of 145 new posts across various categories. This includes 66 positions in newly upgraded Municipal Corporations, 3 in newly upgraded Municipal Councils, 70 in newly created Nagar Panchayats, and 6 in the Directorate of Urban Development department.
However, the Cabinet decided against the creation and filling of two senior resident doctor positions in the Department of Gastroenterology at the Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialties, Chamiana, Shimla.
In a move aimed at improving the efficiency of traditional industries, the Cabinet approved a policy to convert all traditional Katha Bhatti’es into modern Katha Bhatti systems with IBR boilers. These revamped Bhattis will be required to register with the Chief Inspector of Boilers of the state. The new policy also allows IBR boilers to process khairwood with bark, with a processing capacity ranging between 5,435 to 7,500 quintals annually.
The Cabinet’s decisions reflect a strong push towards modernization in infrastructure, healthcare, and traditional industries, while also preparing the state for important legislative proceedings in the coming week.
