Shimla:

The state government has received a significant boost in rural infrastructure development as the Project Internal Approval Committee of NABARD has approved Rs. 109.3 crore for 10 rural road projects across six districts of Himachal Pradesh. This approval, under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) XXX, is expected to improve connectivity, transportation, and overall rural development in the state.

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh announced the approval during a press briefing today. He highlighted that these projects would not only enhance road connectivity but also facilitate the movement of agricultural produce, daily essentials, and public transport, thereby strengthening the rural economy.

The approved projects cover key roads that will significantly impact rural areas. Among the major roads to be upgraded are the Junalla-Karloti-Chhat-Berthin road, the Tikkar Manoh via Jakhyol-Ramehra-Sulkhan-Dhirwin road, and the Rohru-Chirgaon-Dodrakawar road. Additionally, several link roads, including those connecting Pirsaluhi in Kangra to Kitpal in Hamirpur, as well as roads from Puyad to Tikkari via Dharli, and from Thathar Tripal to Mehwa Panchayat, will also be developed.

Further infrastructure improvements include the construction of a 35-metre span bridge connecting the villages of Nehwat, Nayaser, Ghaini, and Devidhar, along with roads and culverts in areas like Kanshiwala to Biroja Factory. Roads from Saheed Tej Singh Smarak Jatta-Ra-Nallah to Kukrigalu, passing through Harijan Basti Saloun, Katloun, and Chhamyar, will also be constructed.

Minister Singh emphasized the importance of these projects in ensuring better connectivity for remote areas. He also noted that these improvements would play a crucial role in boosting rural prosperity by facilitating smoother transportation, and providing much-needed access to markets and services.

“The current state government, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, is committed to delivering progressive governance,” said Minister Singh. “These efforts are part of our ongoing commitment to the holistic development of Himachal Pradesh. We have been proactive in representing the developmental needs of the state at the central level, and this successful grant allocation is a result of those continuous efforts.”

Minister Singh instructed PWD officials to begin work on the approved projects within a month, following the completion of all necessary formalities. He also stressed the need for high-quality construction and timely completion of these important road infrastructure projects.

These new developments are set to provide a lasting impact on the rural communities of Himachal Pradesh, ensuring that even the most remote villages will benefit from improved transportation facilities and a stronger rural economy.
