BJP Politicizing Indian Army’s Valour Through ‘Tiranga Yatra’: Congress Spokesperson Sanjeev Guleria.
Shimla:
Himachal Pradesh Congress spokesperson and APMC Mandi Chairman, Sanjeev Guleria, has sharply criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly attempting to politicize the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Army through its ongoing ‘Tiranga Yatra’.
Sanjeev Guleria asserted that the BJP’s campaign is a mere political stunt aimed at exploiting the Indian Army’s valour for electoral gains. “The same party that once hesitated to hoist the national flag at its own headquarters is now staging tricolor marches in the name of patriotism. This is nothing more than a gimmick to gain cheap popularity,” Guleria said.
He further stated that elements of the BJP’s ideological parent body, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), had historically opposed the tricolor flag. “Before independence, these ideological groups did not accept the tricolor, and even after independence, the national flag was not hoisted at the RSS headquarters for decades,” he added.
Referring to the recent successful counter-terror operation, ‘Operation Sindoor’, launched by the Indian Army in the wake of the Pahalgam attack, Guleria said the operation had filled every Indian heart with pride. However, he accused the BJP of using such heroic acts to divert public attention from the central leadership’s diplomatic failures and weak decision-making.
“It is deeply unfortunate and shameful that the BJP is using the armed forces’ success for political mileage. Such acts undermine the sanctity of military service and erode healthy democratic traditions,” Guleria stated.
He also expressed concern over the recent derogatory remarks made by some BJP ministers and senior leaders against high-ranking military officials. Guleria demanded that the BJP take strict action against such individuals, stating that these comments were not only disrespectful but also demoralizing to the armed forces.
The Congress leader concluded by urging political parties to keep the armed forces above politics and maintain the dignity and honor of institutions that safeguard the nation.
