Former Bilaspur MLA Bambar Thakur, PSO, and Another Injured in Firing Incident.

In a shocking incident, former Congress MLA from Bilaspur, Bambar Thakur, his personal security officer (PSO), and another person were injured after four unknown persons opened fire on them with pistols in Bilaspur on Friday.

According to an eyewitness, Thakur was celebrating Holi with five others at his wife’s government residence when the incident occurred. At around 3:30 pm, four people entered the premises, and one of them aimed at Thakur, firing from close range. Despite being pulled to safety behind a vehicle, the assailant continued firing, with at least 12 rounds being fired.

Thakur was hit by a bullet in his thigh and has been taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla for treatment. His PSO, who was hit by bullets in the abdomen and thigh, is in critical condition at AIMS Bilaspur. Vikas, who was also injured in the foot, stated that the assailants were chased but managed to flee.

SP Bilaspur Sandeep Dhawal confirmed that an FIR has been registered against four unknown persons, and the investigation is ongoing. The police have sealed all borders of the district and are making efforts to arrest the culprits.

This is not the first time Thakur has been targeted. He was assaulted on February 23, 2024, and a case was registered against 11 persons. Additionally, five persons, including Thakur’s son, were booked for firing gunshots in the Bilaspur court premises during a hearing on June 20, 2024.
