Shimla:

A grand Samman Samaroh was organised today at Panjain panchayat in Seraj Assembly constituency to honour Congress leader from Seraj Vijay Pal Singh following his recent appointment as a member of the Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission. The event witnessed a warm reception from locals who expressed pride in his elevation to the post.

Addressing the gathering, Vijay Pal Singh expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for recognizing the sentiments of the people of the Seraj region, particularly the long-neglected Balichowki area. “No political party had earlier given any ticket or post to a person from this region. CM Sukhu understood the aspirations of the people and gave me this opportunity,” he said.

Singh emphasized that his appointment comes with a strong commitment to public service. “The Chief Minister has directed me to spend 70 percent of my time in Shimla to pursue and fulfill the demands of the people of Seraj, and 30 percent in the constituency. This shows his serious intent to bring real development to the grassroots,” he added.

He urged people not to feel hesitant in reaching out to him. “I am always accessible. You need not be disappointed—come to me directly whenever there is a need. I will try my best to support every needy person in the constituency,” he assured.

Clarifying his political stance, Singh said, “I am not an opponent of former Chief Minister and current Seraj MLA Jai Ram Thakur; I am merely his critique. I believe in constructive criticism for the betterment of our region.”

He remarked that while Jai Ram Thakur rose to the highest office in the state with the blessings of local deities and people, he failed to live up to their expectations in terms of real development in Seraj.

Vijay Pal Singh also highlighted CM Sukhu’s commitment to reaching every corner of the state. “The Chief Minister is visiting village after village, and very soon he will visit one of the villages in the Seraj Assembly constituency as well,” he said, calling on locals to suggest a suitable village for the CM’s visit. “Whichever area is selected, it will be a priority for future development,” he added.

The event concluded with enthusiastic support from the local population, who voiced hope for a more inclusive and progressive future for the Seraj region.

Earlier, Singh visited the temple premises of Baglamukhi Mata, a popular shrine just few kilometre ahead from Pandoh, to offer  prayers, while on this way to Panjain. At Thalaut, he received warm welcome from his staunch loyalists Madan Thakur and other.

On this occasion, he was accompanied by HPMC Director Joginder Singh Guleria, Gram panchayat Pradhan Panjain Krishna Devi, Ex Pradhan Deevan Chand, District Congress Secretary Rajender Sharma, his close aide Shiva Sharma and other.
