Congress Leader Jagdish Ready Visits Flood-Affected Areas in Seraj Mandi, Praises Swift Government Response.
Shimla:
Congress leader from Seraj, Jagdish Ready, visited the flood-affected areas of the Seraj region in Mandi district yesterdayand took stock of the ongoing relief efforts. Ready also attended a high-level meeting with senior district and local administration officials to review the response and rehabilitation work following the devastating floods that struck the region on the night of June 30.
Officials present at the meeting included the Deputy Commissioner of Mandi, DSP Karsog, SDM Seraj, Tehsildar Thunag, and officers from all key departments. Discussions focused on the pace of relief efforts, restoration of basic services, and support for affected families.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Jagdish Ready acknowledged the gravity of the natural disaster, calling it the “biggest tragedy in the history of Seraj.” He commended the swift response by the state Public Works Department (PWD), which reopened key roads within six days—contrary to earlier predictions that the task would take up to six months. As a result, connectivity to Janjahali market has now been restored, bringing much-needed relief to local residents and businesses.
He also appreciated the dedication of the administration, stating, “I extend heartfelt thanks to all the officers and staff of Seraj, who are working tirelessly for the people in these testing times.” Ready particularly highlighted the efforts of SDM Seraj and Tehsildar Thunag, who were among the first to inspect the flood-hit areas on July 1, just hours after the disaster.
The Congress leader reiterated his commitment to supporting the people of Seraj and ensuring that relief measures continue swiftly and effectively in coordination with government agencies.
