New Delhi:

On the 10th anniversary of the Skill India Mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed the government’s steadfast commitment to empowering the youth with cutting-edge skills, aligning with India’s vision of becoming a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

In a series of posts on social media platform X, the Prime Minister responded to messages by MyGovIndia and Union Minister Jayant Singh, reflecting on a decade of progress under the flagship initiative. He highlighted the impact of the programme in building a skilled and self-reliant youth force, capable of meeting both national and global workforce demands.

Skill India is strengthening the resolve to make our youth skilled and self-reliant. #SkillIndiaAt10,” PM Modi posted, praising the transformative role of the mission in enhancing livelihoods and building capabilities across diverse sectors.

He further noted, “The Skill India initiative has benefitted countless people, empowering them with new skills and building opportunities. In the coming times as well, we will keep focusing on equipping our Yuva Shakti with new skills, in line with global best practices, so that we can realise our dream of a Viksit Bharat.

Launched in 2015, the Skill India Mission was designed to train over 40 crore people in various skills by 2022 and has continued to evolve as a dynamic initiative focused on improving employability, fostering entrepreneurship, and bridging the skill gap in critical industries.

Over the past decade, the mission has created a robust ecosystem of skill development through programs like PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), and partnerships with industry and academia.

As India positions itself as a global talent hub, the government’s renewed focus on skill development underscores its vision of empowering “Yuva Shakti” — the young workforce — to be future-ready in an increasingly technology-driven world.
