The recent visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Japan has resulted in a series of significant agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two nations. These agreements cover diverse areas including economic partnership, defense, technology, environment, and cultural exchange, with a focus on long-term collaboration in key sectors.

Key Outcomes of the Visit:

  1. India-Japan Joint Vision for the Next Decade A strategic 10-year vision was agreed upon, focusing on cooperation in economic partnership, security, mobility, ecological sustainability, technology, health, people-to-people engagement, and state-prefecture interactions. This framework will guide the trajectory of India-Japan relations for the coming decade.
  2. Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation A comprehensive defense framework was established to enhance India-Japan security cooperation, aligning it with the nations’ Special Strategic and Global Partnership. This will address contemporary security challenges in the region.
  3. Human Resource Exchange Action Plan The two countries committed to an ambitious human resource exchange program, aiming to promote the two-way exchange of 500,000 people over the next five years. This will include 50,000 skilled and semi-skilled workers from India to Japan.
