Pune Maharashtra:

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has laid the foundation stone for two significant National Highway projects in Pune, Maharashtra. The event, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other dignitaries, marks a major step towards enhancing regional connectivity.

The projects include the four-laning of a 13 km stretch from Dive Ghat to Hadapsar on the Mohol-Alandi section of NH-965 (Palkhi Marg Package VI), with a total project cost of Rs. 819 crore. Additionally, major bridges over the Mula and Mutha rivers on the Pune-Satara section of NH-48 will be constructed, with an investment of Rs. 80 crore.

Addressing the gathering, Gadkari emphasized that the expansion of the NH-965 section will significantly reduce congestion, providing a safer route for pilgrims during the Palkhi Yatra. Plans for dedicated walkways along the highway will ensure a hassle-free experience for devotees.

He further noted ongoing initiatives, including the tender invitation for an elevated corridor in the Nashik Phata-Khed section of NH-60, valued at Rs. 7,500 crore, and a Rs. 5,000 crore project for an elevated corridor from Ravet to Narhe, set to begin in December 2024.

These developments aim to improve connectivity between Pune, Satara, and Solapur, benefiting approximately 9-10 lakh Warkaris participating in the Palkhi Yatra. The projects are expected to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce accidents, and facilitate easier access for local agricultural products to larger markets.
