Kangana Faces Black Flag Protest in Sundernagar, Tensions Rise Between Youth Congress and BJP Supporters.
Shimla:
Tensions flared in Sundernagar Mandi district on Monday September 22 as Youth Congress workers staged a fierce protest against Mandi MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut during her visit to attend the “Bachat Utsav”, celebrating GST reforms. The demonstration, led by Mandi District Youth Congress President Nikhil Thakur, saw protestors waving black flags and chanting slogans like “Kangana Go Back” and “Kangana Ranaut Bhag Gayi”.
To avoid confrontation, police and BJP organisers diverted Kangana’s convoy away from the protest zone near the Old Bus Stand. She was accompanied by Sundernagar MLA Rakesh Jamwal for the event. The change of route angered protestors, who intensified their sloganeering.
Tensions escalated further when BJP workers arrived and shouted counter-slogans, resulting in a heated face-off. Police had to intervene to maintain order and prevent violence.
Nikhil Thakur slammed Kangana’s tenure as “unproductive” and accused her of making divisive statements. He also criticised the BJP-led Centre, saying, “They celebrate a ‘Savings Festival’ now, but earlier it was a ‘Loot Festival’ under GST.”
This is the second such protest Kangana has faced recently, signalling growing opposition to her political role in Himachal Pradesh.
