Tragic Fire in Keylong Claims Life of Child, Relief and Compensation Announced for Affected Family.

A tragic fire in Keylong today claimed the life of a young child, leaving the community in shock. The child, who was found dead in the aftermath of the blaze, was discovered early this morning. The fire, which severely damaged the affected family’s home, has been brought under control by local authorities, including the administration, DDMA, Fire Department, and Water Supply Department.
In response to the devastating incident, Lahaul and Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana announced immediate financial aid of Rs. 40,000 to the family, along with essential goods. The affected family, of Nepali origin, has been relocated, and disaster management measures are being activated. A compensation of Rs. 4 lakh will soon be provided, with additional compensation for those whose home was completely destroyed.
MLA Rana expressed heartfelt condolences to the family and assured them of all possible support during this difficult time. She also urged the public to exercise caution around open fires, stressing the dangers of leaving small children unattended.
District Council member Kunga Bodh confirmed that District Commissioner Rahul Kumar had informed him of the district administration’s decision to offer immediate relief of Rs. 25,000, with a further Rs. 3.75 lakh to be provided later. The Red Cross has also pledged assistance.
The family, with support from the Panchayat and the Forest Department, has decided to conduct the child’s final rites at Tandi Sangam. In addition to financial aid, the administration, led by Tehsildar Ramesh Rana, has provided relief in the form of blankets, a kitchen set, and funds to help the grieving family.
Kunga Bodh expressed his gratitude to the District Commissioner and the administration for their swift and compassionate response to this heartbreaking situation.
