In a major step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh, the state has received a historic Rs. 950-crore health package from the Central Government. Former minister and senior BJP leader Govind Singh Thakur hailed this initiative as a reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda’s visionary and people-centric approach.

According to Thakur, the decision will give new momentum, modern technology, and greater strength to the state’s healthcare network, benefitting thousands of families. Out of the total amount, Rs. 600 crore will be utilized to provide modern equipment to IGMC Shimla and other health institutions across the state. Additionally, a Modern Cancer Institute will be established in Hamirpur at a cost of Rs. 300 crore.

Each medical college—IGMC Shimla, Tanda, Hamirpur, and Nerchowk—will be equipped with Tesla MRI machines, while robotic surgery systems will be installed in the medical colleges of Chamba and Mandi districts. Furthermore, 67 modern health centers will be set up in rural areas to expand quality healthcare access.

Thakur expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and Minister Nadda, stating that their compassionate leadership and foresight are taking Himachal’s health sector to new heights.
