President Donald Trump Honors Heroes of World War I, Vows to Uphold Legacy of Peace Through Strength.
Washington:
On the 107th anniversary of the end of World War I, U.S. President Donald Trump delivered a powerful message commemorating the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of the American heroes who fought to defend liberty and civilization.
In a statement steeped in patriotism and historical reflection, President Trump hailed November 11, 1918, as a day when “the immortal causes of liberty, sovereignty, and human dignity were secured in glory” with the signing of the armistice that ended the First World War. He paid tribute to the millions of American service members who served during the Great War and the more than 320,000 who became casualties, declaring that their sacrifices “were not in vain.”
“Without the heroic bravery of our American soldiers, the war would not have been won, and our world today would look drastically different,” the President stated.
Trump recounted the course of the war, from its outbreak in 1914 to the United States’ decisive entry in 1917, following German submarine attacks on American vessels. He emphasized that America’s intervention “righteously entered the war to protect its citizens, defend its interests, and secure the cause of peace,” marking a turning point in the global conflict.
The President also highlighted the pivotal role of U.S. industrial power and innovation, noting that World War I marked the “dawn of American air power,” advanced battlefield medicine, and revolutionized modern warfare. He invoked historic battles such as Verdun, the Somme, Belleau Wood, and the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, where American courage helped bring an end to tyranny.
Drawing a direct line between past and present, Trump declared that his Administration continues to uphold the Great War generation’s legacy through the principle of “Peace Through Strength.” He cited his record of negotiating “historic peace agreements,” including a deal to end the devastating war in Gaza, as part of his broader effort to move nations beyond conflict and toward “a shared future of peace, prosperity, and success.”
“More than one century following the end of World War I, we honor the valiant American service members whose victory sent a resounding message to the entire world: No tyranny can topple the strength of the American military,” Trump said.
As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary of independence, the President called on Americans to draw inspiration from the grit, valor, and patriotism of the soldiers of World War I, reaffirming his vow to “never stop fighting for the sacred causes that sustain our Republic, our way of life, and our birthright of freedom.”
The message, released on November 11, serves as both a tribute to America’s fallen heroes and a reaffirmation of Trump’s foreign policy doctrine rooted in strength, sovereignty, and national pride.
