Chief Minister Inspects Tourist Information Centre on Shimla’s Mall Road, Emphasises Boost to Tourism.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday inspected the Tourist Information Centre located on the Mall Road in Shimla. During the visit, he reviewed the functioning of the centre, interacted with officials, and issued necessary directions to ensure better services for tourists.
The Chief Minister said that tourists visiting Dev Bhoomi Himachal Pradesh should not face any inconvenience and stressed the need for efficient and visitor-friendly facilities at key tourist locations. He highlighted that tourism is a major pillar of the state’s economy and strengthening this sector would significantly support economic growth and employment generation.
He informed that the State Government has set an ambitious target of attracting five crore tourists every year. To achieve this goal, the government is undertaking new initiatives and adopting a multi-dimensional approach, focusing on infrastructure development, improved connectivity, and enhanced tourism services across the state.
During his visit, the Chief Minister also interacted with tourists at the Ridge and on the Mall Road, enquiring about their experience and facilities available to them. He reiterated the government’s commitment to making Himachal Pradesh a preferred tourist destination by ensuring safety, comfort, and quality services.
Talking to media persons, the Chief Minister referred to the recent incident at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, and said that action has been taken after a complete inquiry. He stated that the State Government has taken several steps in the interest of doctors, particularly senior resident doctors. He also added that necessary directions have been issued to further improve facilities for doctors at IGMC Shimla.
The Chief Minister’s visit underlined the government’s focus on strengthening tourism while simultaneously addressing issues related to healthcare infrastructure and the welfare of medical professionals in the state.
