Punjab Governor Releases Anti-Drug Awareness Song “Chitta Mukt Himachal” by Renowned Himachali Folk Singer Inder Jeet.
Shimla:
In a significant initiative aimed at making Devbhoomi Himachal Pradesh drug-free, a powerful anti-drug awareness song titled “Chitta Mukt Himachal” was officially released on January 23 by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria.
The song is a strong social message and a call for collective action against the growing menace of drug abuse in Himachal Pradesh. Far beyond being a musical creation, “Chitta Mukt Himachal” represents a people’s movement that urges society—especially the youth—to reject drugs and work towards building a healthy, progressive, and responsible future.
The inspirational song has been soulfully rendered by renowned Himachali folk singer Inder Jeet, whose powerful and emotive voice beautifully reflects the essence of Himachali culture and deep-rooted social values. Blending traditional folk music with a contemporary social message, the song delivers a hard-hitting appeal that resonates strongly with young listeners. Its meaningful lyrics, impactful music, and emotional presentation strike straight at the heart, spreading awareness about the dangers of drug addiction.
During the release ceremony, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria appreciated the initiative and emphasized the crucial role of such awareness-driven cultural efforts in bringing positive change to society. He stated that music and art can play a vital role in sensitizing people, particularly the youth, about social evils like drug abuse. The Governor urged young citizens to stay away from drugs and actively contribute to nation-building and social development.
The song reflects the rich culture, natural beauty, and social consciousness of Devbhoomi Himachal while delivering a powerful message:
“Drugs must be eradicated from the roots; Devbhoomi Himachal Pradesh must be made drug-free.”
“Chitta Mukt Himachal” is expected to provide fresh direction and renewed energy to ongoing and future anti-drug campaigns across the state.
Notably, this is not the first time Inder Jeet has raised his voice against drug abuse. His earlier awareness song “Mat Kerde Nasha” received widespread appreciation and became immensely popular among the youth. The song inspired thousands struggling with addiction and motivated many to step out of the darkness of substance abuse.
Through his music, Inder Jeet has consistently worked to preserve and promote Himachali folk culture while using his art as a medium for social reform. With “Chitta Mukt Himachal,” he once again reinforces the message that music can be a powerful tool for awareness, transformation, and positive change in society.
