Shimla:

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has successfully reopened the crucial Manali-Leh highway for two-way traffic, reconnecting Manali, Lahaul, and Ladakh valleys. Closed since December last year due to heavy snowfall, the highway had only allowed one-way traffic since May 18, causing inconvenience to residents, businesses, and tourists.

Covering 427 km of challenging terrain, the Manali-Leh highway is essential for the region’s connectivity. Thanks to the relentless efforts of BRO personnel, essential supplies like food, medical supplies, and fuel can now reach the isolated communities in Ladakh without hindrance.

The reopening of the highway has paved the way for the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) to announce the imminent resumption of bus services between Delhi and Leh via Manali. This decision promises enhanced connectivity and economic opportunities for the region, especially for local businesses.

With the summer season approaching and travel restrictions easing, the reopening of the Manali-Leh highway and the impending resumption of bus services are expected to boost tourism, attracting adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers.
