Solar Energy Corporation of India facilitates Selection Process for Green Ammonia Producers under NGHM’s SIGHT Programme.

New Delhi:
In a significant move towards fostering demand for Green Hydrogen and its derivatives in India, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a Request for Selection (RfS) for the selection of Green Ammonia Producers. This initiative falls under Mode 2A of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme, a part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) spearheaded by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE).
Boosting Green Ammonia Production
The competitive bidding process has been initiated for a total available capacity of 5.39 lakh Metric Tonnes (MT) per annum of Green Ammonia intended for production and supply. The selection will be conducted through e-bidding followed by an e-Reverse Auction process. The produced Green Ammonia will be supplied to fertilizer companies.
Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT)
MNRE had previously issued Scheme Guidelines for the implementation of SIGHT Programme – Component II: Incentive for Procurement of Green Ammonia Production (under Mode 2A) of the NGHM. SECI has been designated as the implementing agency for this Scheme.
Under the SIGHT Programme, MNRE has already allocated 4.12 lakh Metric Tonnes (MT) per annum of Green Hydrogen production capacity and 1.5 GW per annum of Electrolyzer manufacturing capacity.
National Green Hydrogen Mission
Launched on 4th January 2023 with an outlay of Rs. 19,744 crores up to FY 2029-30, the National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to bolster India’s self-reliance through clean energy initiatives. It is poised to catalyze significant decarbonization of the economy, reduce reliance on fossil fuel imports, and position India as a leader in Green Hydrogen technology and markets, inspiring global clean energy transitions.
