15 Injured as Private Bus Crashes Near Durgapur in Mandi District; Driver Booked for Negligence.

A private passenger bus met with an accident near Dyoh Nala, close to Durgapur in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, on Monday, leaving around 14 to 15 people injured. Police have registered a case against the driver for allegedly driving negligently.

According to information received from the Rewalsar Police Outpost, authorities were informed about the accident on June 1, 2026. Acting swiftly, a police team rushed to the spot to assess the situation and assist in rescue operations.

Upon reaching the accident site, police found that the private bus bearing registration number HP31A-4889 had veered off the road and crashed into the ground below. The impact of the accident resulted in injuries to approximately 14 to 15 passengers traveling in the vehicle.

All injured persons were immediately shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Rewalsar, for medical treatment. Police officials have initiated the process of obtaining medical examination reports and Medico-Legal Case (MLC) reports of the injured passengers as part of the investigation.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred due to the alleged negligent driving of the bus driver, identified as Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Sarkaghat Tehsil in Mandi district. Based on the initial findings, the police have registered FIR No. 111/26 dated June 1, 2026, at Balh Police Station under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police officials stated that further investigation into the incident is underway to ascertain all circumstances surrounding the accident.

The district police have appealed to motorists and public transport operators to exercise caution and strictly follow traffic regulations to prevent such incidents and ensure passenger safety.
