Shimla:

In a high-stakes joint operation, the Punjab Police’s Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and the Kullu District Police achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting notorious gangster Harpreet Singh along with seven associates in the Manikaran valley.

The group, which included two women, was intercepted following a meticulously planned ambush near the Shilla area.

The Operation: A Strategic Ambush

According to police sources, the suspects had arrived in the Manikaran region on Thursday and were staying at a private hotel. While the accused were attempting to blend in as tourists, the Punjab Police had been tracking their movements via technical surveillance for several days.

The breakthrough occurred as the suspects were traveling back toward Manikaran from Barshaini. Acting on real-time intelligence, a joint team of Punjab and Kullu police set up a strategic blockade near Shilla.
The vehicle was intercepted, and all eight individuals were taken into custody without the opportunity to escape.

The operation was executed with precision to ensure no collateral damage in the high-traffic tourist zone.

Suspects and Background

The primary target was Harpreet Singh, a gangster with a lengthy criminal record involving various serious offenses in Punjab. The identities of the other five men and two women arrested alongside him are currently being verified, as police investigate their roles in the gang’s operations and the purpose of their visit to the hills.

“This successful operation highlights the seamless coordination between the Himachal and Punjab police forces in tackling organized crime across state borders,” stated a senior official involved in the case.

Further investigations are underway, and the accused are expected to be produced in court for remand.
