CM Sukhu Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Regional Laboratory of HPSPCB in Dharamshala.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday inaugurated the newly constructed Regional Laboratory building of the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board (HPSPCB) at Dari near Dharamshala. Built at a cost of Rs. 3.5 crore, the modern facility is expected to significantly enhance the state’s environmental monitoring and analytical capabilities.
The multi-storey laboratory complex spans 938.44 sq. m, distributed across a basement, ground floor, first floor and top floor, each covering 234.61 sq. m. The basement has been designated for parking and is equipped with essential utilities such as electricity, water supply and other modern amenities required for the functioning of an advanced analytical set-up.
The new lab houses purpose-built sections for water and wastewater quality testing, ambient air quality monitoring and microbiological analysis. Dedicated rooms for sample storage, chemical and glassware stock, a record room and a meeting hall have also been incorporated to ensure seamless laboratory operations. Ample seating arrangements for staff add to the building’s functionality.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sukhu said the State Government had provided adequate budgetary support to ensure the timely completion of the project. He added that the laboratory has been developed in line with standards required for NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) accreditation.
“With its modern infrastructure, enhanced analytical capacity and improved safety provisions, this new laboratory will significantly strengthen the technical capabilities, operational efficiency and service standards of the State Pollution Control Board,” the Chief Minister said.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ayush Minister Yadvinder Goma, Vice Chairman of HP State Planning Board Bhawani Singh Pathania, MLAs Sanjay Awasthy, Harish Janartha and Suresh Kumar, Congress leader Devender Jaggi, APMC Kangra Chairman Nishu Mongra, Dharamshala Mayor Neenu Sharma, Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, HPSPCB Member Secretary Praveen Gupta and other dignitaries.
