State Government Considers College Ranking System, Announces New Development Plans for Sanjauli College: CM Sukhu.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, during a program organized by the Alumni Association at the Center of Excellence Government Degree College in Sanjauli, today revealed that the state government is considering a ranking system for colleges across Himachal Pradesh. With 138 colleges in the state, the government is working on a formula to assess and rank these institutions, with a focus on strengthening facilities and enhancing the quality of education.

Speaking at the event, CM Sukhu highlighted several upcoming developments for the Sanjauli College, including the construction of an arts block, a girls’ hostel, and additional parking space, with plans to complete the work within two years. He announced a generous Rs 50 lakh grant to the Alumni Association for further initiatives.
Sukhu also reflected on the achievements of the current state government, which is nearing the end of its second year in office. He stated that many corrective steps have been taken, and positive outcomes are expected in the near future. The Chief Minister emphasized the state’s commitment to providing quality education and announced a range of welfare schemes, including the Mukhyamantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana, which supports the education of 23,000 children of widows. He also outlined the Dr. Y.S. Parmar Student Loan Scheme, which offers loans up to Rs 20 lakh at just 1% interest for meritorious students, including for studying abroad.
The Chief Minister promised significant changes in the upcoming budget, particularly focused on education, and criticized previous governments for mismanagement of state resources. In contrast, he assured that the current government is prioritizing the welfare of the state’s people.
Sukhu also highlighted the government’s promotion of natural farming, with incentives for farmers, including higher rates for wheat, maize, and milk purchased under the scheme.
In a nostalgic moment, CM Sukhu recalled his own college days at Sanjauli College, reflecting on his journey from a student leader to Chief Minister. He encouraged students to work hard, stay away from drugs, and take advantage of the new courses being introduced for better employment opportunities.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Justice Sandeep Sharma of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, MLA Harish Janartha, and others. The students of Sanjauli College also presented a cultural program to mark the occasion.
