Indian Air Force Marks First Anniversary of ‘Operation Sindoor’ with 88-Hour Commemorative Run in New Delhi.

The Indian Air Force successfully organized an 88-hour-long “Operation Sindoor Commemorative Run” in the national capital from May 7 to May 10, 2026, to mark the first anniversary of the landmark air operations conducted under Operation Sindoor.

The commemorative event celebrated the 88 hours of sustained and successful air operations carried out by the IAF, which highlighted the force’s capability to execute precise and decisive strikes. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 600 runners, including personnel from various Commands of the Indian Air Force, the Indian Army, and civilian volunteers.

The run commenced at 0105 hours on May 7 from India Gate and was flagged off by the Air Officer in Charge Administration (AOA). The relay-style run continued uninterrupted for 88 hours before culminating at Air Force Station New Delhi on May 10 at 1700 hours, where the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) formally flagged in the participants.

Conducted in a continuous relay format, the commemorative run traversed several prominent landmarks across Delhi, including India Gate, Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh Marg, Vayu Bhawan, Nehru Park, and New Moti Bagh Road before concluding at Air Force Station New Delhi.

Civil authorities played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth conduct of the event, while civilian volunteers participated with notable enthusiasm, reflecting strong public support and engagement with the armed forces.

According to the Indian Air Force, the primary objective of the commemorative run was to strengthen esprit de corps among IAF personnel while enhancing outreach and visibility of the Indian Defence Forces among the public.

Adding to the celebrations, the Indian Air Force Jazz Band delivered a live musical performance at Nehru Park on the morning of May 10 as part of the associated activities linked to the commemorative event.

The successful completion of the “Operation Sindoor Commemorative Run” stood as a tribute to a significant milestone in the operational history of the Indian Air Force and showcased the spirit of teamwork, endurance, and public participation that defines the ethos of the force.
