Dead Sea, Israel:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to protecting the Druze community in Syria while addressing the Conference of Druze and Circassian Local Authority Heads held at the Dead Sea region.

The Israeli Prime Minister attended the gathering alongside Haim Bibas, Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, and Yasser Gadban, who heads the Druze and Circassian Local Authorities Forum, along with several local authority leaders.

During his address, Netanyahu emphasized that safeguarding lives remains Israel’s foremost priority, particularly regarding the Druze community in neighboring Syria. He revealed that he is also discussing the issue with Donald Trump as part of ongoing diplomatic engagement.

“The most important mission is ensuring life. I am committed to this,” Netanyahu stated. “I am committed to bringing all the power and strength of the State of Israel to this sacred mission because you bring the strength and power to our alliance.”

The Prime Minister praised the contributions and sacrifices made by Druze soldiers and commanders serving within Israel’s security forces. Referring to their role in the military, Netanyahu highlighted what he described as the “heroism” and “endless dedication” demonstrated by members of the Druze community.

“I see it in the heroic soldiers. I see it in the bereaved families who break my heart,” he said. “I see it in the endless display of heroism by the Druze fighters and commanders.”

Netanyahu stressed that his commitment to the Druze community was longstanding and rooted in what he described as a deep bond between communities.

“We are brothers. This is not a phrase or empty words. It comes from the depths of my heart,” he remarked, adding that the principle guides Israeli soldiers and pilots alike.

He further underscored solidarity between the Druze and Circassian communities, stating that “brothers are not abandoned,” while indicating that additional measures and commitments toward the communities are still to be implemented.

The remarks come amid ongoing regional tensions and concerns surrounding the safety and stability of Druze populations in Syria, particularly in areas affected by conflict and instability.
