BJP Alleges CM’s Announcements Violate Election Code of Conduct.
Shimla:
BJP chief spokesperson and MLA Rakesh Jamwal has strongly criticized Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over recent announcements made during a meeting with administrative secretaries, alleging that the Congress government is attempting to mislead voters during the ongoing Panchayati Raj and urban local body elections.
Jamwal stated that the government suddenly remembering employees, pensioners, and orchardists during the election period exposes its “political opportunism.” He said if the government had genuinely intended to support these groups, they would not have been forced to struggle for arrears, medical reimbursements, and pending payments over the past two and a half years.
He accused the Congress government of failing pensioners, retired employees, and small apple growers by delaying legitimate payments for months. According to him, the timing of the announcements clearly indicates an attempt to influence voters ahead of elections.
The BJP leader further alleged that despite mounting debt in Himachal Pradesh, the government has failed to ensure development, employment opportunities, and timely payments to employees. He termed the announcements during the election period a “direct violation” of the Model Code of Conduct and said the BJP would raise the matter before the Election Commission to ensure fairness in the democratic process.
Jamwal also criticized the state government over the rising drug menace, alleging that narcotics trade has increased significantly during the Congress tenure in Himachal Pradesh.
