In a swift operation, the Kaza administration successfully rescued 18 stranded trekkers, including a foreign national, from the treacherous Pin Parvati Pass in Spiti valley, tribal district Lahaul and Spiti in Himachal Pradesh.

The rescue mission was launched after authorities received distressing news that the group, comprising 1 guide, 9 tourists, and 8 porters, was stranded approximately 12 km from Mudh village towards Pin Parvati Pass. A collaborative effort by the police, ITBP, and administration personnel was immediately mobilized.

“The team located the trekkers near Tenma Top, situated 18 km from Mudh. Due to exhaustion, 5 tourists, 4 porters, and the guide remained at Tanma Camping Site, while the remaining 4 tourists and 4 porters were safely escorted to Kaza,” stated a police official involved in the operation.

Highlighting the condition of the rescued individuals, the official noted, “Richard Oman, a US citizen among the tourists, required medical attention due to illness. He has been admitted to Civil Hospital Kaza for further treatment. Fortunately, all trekkers have been safely rescued, and the overall situation is reported to be calm.”

The successful rescue operation underscores the coordinated efforts of the authorities in managing emergency situations in remote and challenging terrains of the region.
