Supreme Court Rebukes BJP Government: Sunny Eapen.
Shimla:
Sunny Eapen, the joint coordinator of the Congress Committee’s Minority Department in Himachal Pradesh, has praised the Supreme Court’s recent decision in favor of minorities and the notices issued to the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Madhya Pradesh. He criticized the BJP-led governments in these states, accusing them of forcibly imposing their Hindutva ideology by compelling minority shop owners to display their names on their shops. He claimed this not only undermines democracy but also financially harms hundreds of poor minority shopkeepers.
Eapen urged the BJP government to immediately revoke licenses issued to operate the largest beef export facility in Uttar Pradesh if it truly value sensitivity. He emphasized the need for the BJP to cease divisive politics and uphold the constitutional values that sustain India’s democracy.
He further highlighted widespread allegations by BJP members across the country of forced conversions, vandalism of Christian homes and churches, and urged an end to such baseless accusations. Eapen lamented the ongoing atrocities against minorities in Manipur that remain unchecked till date.
