The Government Model Senior Secondary School, Drang in Mandi district, witnessed a vibrant celebration as its Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony was held with great enthusiasm and cultural splendour. Former minister and senior Congress leader Kaul Singh Thakur graced the occasion as the chief guest. Students, teachers, and parents extended a warm welcome to him upon his arrival.

The programme commenced with Principal Vinod Kumar presenting a welcome address along with the annual report. He highlighted the school’s impressive academic, sports, cultural and co-curricular achievements during the academic years 2024–25 and 2025–26. He noted that the institution had registered commendable performance across multiple fields.

Meritorious students, achievers in sports, and cultural performers from both academic sessions were honoured during the ceremony. While distributing the awards, chief guest Kaul Singh Thakur emphasized that quality education and discipline are the key foundations of success. He motivated students to remain hardworking, focused, and dedicated to their goals. Extending greetings on Constitution Day, he also elaborated on the significance of the Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary in a democratic system.

The ceremony was attended by HPMC Director Joginder Guleria, Block Congress President Baman Dev Thakur, Panchayat Samiti Vice-Chairman Krishan Bhoj, Zila Parishad member Ravikant, Panchayat Pradhan Jaya Swaroop, SMC Chairman Lokesh Thakur, SDM Surjeet Singh, BDO Vinay Chauhan and several officials from the PWD and Jal Shakti departments.

Students presented a series of captivating cultural performances, for which the chief guest announced a cash reward of Rs. 10,000. He also assured that funds would be sanctioned through the state government to complete the school’s pending building work.

The event concluded with Principal Vinod Kumar expressing gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, parents, and the local community. A long list of meritorious students—from Classes 6 to 12 across Science, Commerce, and Arts streams—were awarded first, second, and third prizes for their outstanding performance.
