Minister of State for Defence Chairs 15th Defence Information Technology Consultative Committee Meeting, Stresses Self-Reliance in Defence IT.

Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth chaired the 15th meeting of the Defence Information Technology Consultative Committee (DITCC) in New Delhi on June 23, 2026. The meeting, conducted by Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), focused on promoting self-reliance in defence information technology and the timely adoption of cutting-edge technological solutions.
The meeting brought together senior officials, subject matter experts, and stakeholders from across the defence and technology sectors to discuss key policy issues related to the use of disruptive technologies in the evolving landscape of modern warfare.
Addressing the gathering, Sanjay Seth emphasised the importance of strengthening India’s technological capabilities and reducing dependence on foreign technologies. Discussions centred on a range of strategic issues, including the indigenisation of advanced chip manufacturing, the development of sovereign operating systems and database solutions, and the strategic establishment of data centres to meet defence requirements.
Experts highlighted the growing role of emerging technologies in enhancing military preparedness and operational effectiveness. The committee examined initiatives aimed at building secure and indigenous digital infrastructure capable of supporting future defence operations.
During the meeting, the DITCC approved several projects expected to deliver significant benefits not only to the Armed Forces but also to India’s broader technological ecosystem. These initiatives are aligned with the government’s vision of “Viksit Bharat” and are expected to contribute to national technological advancement and innovation.
The meeting was attended by officers from Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, the Army, Navy, Air Force, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), as well as distinguished representatives from academia and industry.
The decisions taken during the meeting are expected to accelerate India’s journey towards technological self-sufficiency in critical defence domains while strengthening the country’s digital and strategic capabilities.
