Rajput Mahasabha Himachal Pradesh Opposes Any Action Against Chamba School Over Controversial Play Presentation.

The Rajput Mahasabha Himachal Pradesh has expressed strong opposition to any possible punitive action against students, teachers, or school management of a school in Tissa, Chamba, following a controversy over a drama presentation performed by students during a social fair.
In an emergency virtual meeting, the organisation discussed the dispute surrounding the school’s theatrical performance and issued a joint statement urging the state government to avoid taking any “unjust or inappropriate action” in the matter.
The statement was issued by Rajput Mahasabha Himachal Pradesh President E.K.S. Jamwal and Dr. Amar Singh Guleria, President of Shri Rajput Sabha, Mandi district.
The organisation said the drama was a creative attempt to highlight various aspects related to the reservation system prevailing in society. It argued that expressing views on social issues through theatre, literature, and cultural activities is part of the constitutional right to freedom of expression in a democratic country.
The Mahasabha alleged that pressure was being created on the district administration and state government by certain groups demanding action against the school management and teachers. It termed such demands “unfortunate” and claimed that they could increase social tensions.
The organisation stated that any disciplinary action against students, teachers, or the school administration would be unfair and could negatively affect the educational and creative environment.
The Mahasabha further said that members of the general category community have historically used plays, discussions, seminars, and awareness programmes to raise issues they consider connected with their rights and opportunities. It clarified that such activities are intended to encourage democratic dialogue rather than hurt the sentiments of any community.
Warning against what it described as an unjust response, the organisation said that if action was taken against the students, teachers, or school authorities, it would consider launching democratic protests, including demonstrations at the district level, while remaining within constitutional boundaries.
The Mahasabha also appealed to elected representatives across Himachal Pradesh to publicly clarify their positions on the issue in an impartial manner.
Several members attended the meeting, including E.K.S. Jamwal, Dr. Amar Singh Guleria, E.D.K. Chandel, Joint Secretary Ravinder Singh Guleria, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Hem Singh Thakur, Ramesh Mehta, Parashar, Narottam Rawat, Lachhman Singh Verma, Rajender Sen, Prem Lal Verma and others.
