Mandi Mayor Suman Thakur visits Press Club, assures support to journalists.

Municipal Corporation Mandi Mayor Suman Thakur visited the Press Club Mandi on Tuesday and interacted with journalists to discuss their concerns and problems. She also inspected the Press Club building and assured the media fraternity of all possible assistance from the Municipal Corporation.

The Mayor was warmly welcomed by Press Club office-bearers and members. During the interaction, Press Club President Subhash Thakur and other journalists apprised her of various issues concerning the club, particularly the need for financial and other support to complete the ongoing construction of the Press Club building.

Suman Thakur inspected the construction work and listened to the issues in detail. She assured the journalists that matters falling within the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation would be taken up promptly and appropriate steps initiated for their resolution.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said journalists were an important pillar of democracy and played a vital role in highlighting public issues and bringing them to the notice of the government and administration.

She emphasized that a strong and responsible media was essential for strengthening democracy and assured the journalists of continued cooperation and support in addressing their legitimate concerns.
