The Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee has appointed Mandi Urban Congress General Secretary Prakash Kashyap as General Secretary (Organisation) of the Mandi District Congress Committee.

According to the appointment order, Kashyap has been entrusted with the responsibility of effectively advancing organisational activities, strengthening the party structure and working in accordance with the ideology of the Indian National Congress.

Expressing gratitude over his appointment, Kashyap thanked Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, state Congress in-charge Rajni Patil, Pradesh Congress President Vinay Kumar and Mandi District Congress Committee President Champa Thakur. He said he would work closely with the district president to make the party organisation stronger and more effective.

Kashyap said he intended to move beyond traditional methods and introduce modern and innovative systems in organisational functioning.

Although his appointment took some time, party sources said his experience, efficiency and organisational capabilities were thoroughly assessed during the selection process before he was entrusted with the key responsibility.

Kashyap has been known for his public speaking skills and versatile personality. During his government service, he was reportedly honoured twice by the Prime Minister with the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration (Civil Services Award).

He has also received several other honours, including Best Citizen of India Award-2017, Rashtriya Gaurav Award, Bharat Jyoti Award and Himachal Gaurav Ratna Award. He has received awards for excellence from leaders including Prem Kumar Dhumal, Virbhadra Singh, Jai Ram Thakur and Union Minister Narendra Tomar.

His appointment has been welcomed by family members, friends and several Congress leaders and workers across the state and district.
