Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan Launches ‘Gnani Artha’ Sovereign AI Stack, Calls for Technological Self-Reliance.

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Friday launched ‘Gnani Artha’, a sovereign Artificial Intelligence (AI) stack developed by GNANI AI, at Uprashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The platform comprises Evon 3.3, a large language model, and Plexus, an AI platform designed to connect intelligence with real-world work and institutions.
Welcoming the launch, Radhakrishnan said Gnani Artha reflects the growing strength of India’s technology ecosystem and demonstrates that Indian engineers can build frontier technologies rather than merely use them.
The Vice President said the rapid evolution of technology, from typewriters and limited computer usage to AI and Large Language Models, has transformed the way people work. Recalling earlier concerns that computers would eliminate jobs, he noted that the IT sector instead generated millions of employment opportunities in India and abroad. He expressed confidence that AI would similarly create new avenues for employment, innovation and economic growth, helping take India’s economic progress to the next stage.
Highlighting India’s advances in AI, Radhakrishnan referred to initiatives such as the IndiaAI Mission and Centres of Excellence for AI. He attributed much of the momentum behind India’s technological transformation to the political will and ‘India First’ approach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He stressed that India must move beyond being a technology consumer and focus on creating indigenous solutions. “We should not be consumers always; we need to create, so that others can consume,” he said.
Radhakrishnan also highlighted the use of AI in Parliament. He said the Digital Sansad portal provides access to parliamentary debates and documents in multiple Indian languages. AI-based simultaneous interpretation in eight languages was introduced during the recently concluded Session and is expected to be expanded to all Scheduled Languages.
Emphasising the strategic importance of sovereign AI capabilities, the Vice President said technological self-reliance would strengthen India’s autonomy and global competitiveness. He also referred to semiconductor manufacturing, observing that India could have entered chip manufacturing much earlier and potentially emerged as a global leader. He noted that the sector has received renewed momentum in recent years.
Radhakrishnan said technological capability would be an important pillar of India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047. He described Gnani Artha as part of the country’s broader effort towards technological self-reliance, innovation and global leadership.
He congratulated GNANI AI CEO Ganesh Gopalan and Co-Founder and CTO Ananth Nagaraj on the launch and expressed confidence that the initiative would contribute to building a stronger, self-reliant and technologically empowered India.
