6.81 Lakh Pending Revenue Cases Resolved Through Revenue Lok Adalats Across Himachal Pradesh.

Shimla:

As part of its efforts to provide faster, transparent and citizen-centric services, the Himachal Pradesh government has resolved around 6.81 lakh pending revenue cases through Revenue Lok Adalats and Special Revenue Lok Adalats held across the state.

The initiative has resulted in the disposal of more than 5.44 lakh mutation cases, 47,333 partition cases and around 63,000 demarcation cases. In addition, 26,288 corrections have been made in revenue records, providing relief to thousands of landowners and families dealing with long-pending land-related matters.

Revenue Lok Adalats have been organized at Tehsil and Sub-Tehsil headquarters on the last two days of every month since October 2023 with the objective of resolving revenue-related cases in a time-bound manner.

To further accelerate the disposal of pending cases, the state government has also been conducting Special Revenue Lok Adalats three days a week—Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday—from January 2026. These special hearings are particularly focused on partition cases and corrections in revenue records.

Relief to people through speedy disposal

The Revenue Lok Adalats have received an encouraging response from the public by providing a convenient platform for resolving pending revenue matters without the need for repeated visits to government offices.

The initiative has helped reduce the overall pendency of revenue cases while ensuring that people receive timely relief. Land and revenue matters often have a direct bearing on families, property ownership and inheritance, making their speedy settlement particularly important.

The programme has been especially beneficial for residents of rural and remote areas, who often have to spend considerable time and money travelling to revenue offices to resolve land-related issues.

By bringing the process closer to the people and providing time-bound hearings, the Lok Adalats have helped landowners save both time and money. The strong public response has also indicated growing confidence in the government’s citizen-focused approach to revenue administration.

Focus on accurate revenue records

Apart from reducing the backlog of cases, the Revenue Lok Adalats are also contributing to improvements in the quality and accuracy of revenue records.

The correction of errors in land records and settlement of disputes through dedicated hearings are expected to improve transparency and reduce difficulties faced by citizens in future transactions involving land and property.

The initiative is also aimed at strengthening accountability and efficiency in revenue administration, while making public services more accessible and convenient for people.

Government committed to hassle-free governance: Sukhu

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state government was committed to providing transparent, responsive and hassle-free governance to the people.

He said revenue matters were directly linked to the interests of families and landowners and, therefore, their timely resolution remained a priority for the government.

The Chief Minister said the large number of cases disposed of through Revenue Lok Adalats demonstrated the government’s resolve to reduce pendency and provide relief to people at their convenience.

He said the government would continue to introduce reforms and strengthen mechanisms to make public services faster, simpler and more accessible.

Sukhu emphasized that people should not be required to make frequent visits to government offices or spend unnecessary time and money to get their legitimate matters resolved.

He said such initiatives would contribute significantly towards improving ease of living, transparency and people-centric governance in Himachal Pradesh.

With the continued organization of Revenue Lok Adalats and Special Revenue Lok Adalats, the state government is seeking to create a more efficient revenue administration system and ensure that long-pending land and property matters are settled in a timely and accessible manner.
