DAV Jawahar Nagar Mandi Begins Hindi Fortnight with Grand Ceremony, Principal Calls for Use of Hindi in All School Activities.

DAV Centenary Public School, Jawahar Nagar, Mandi, marked Hindi Diwas on September 14 with the grand inauguration of Hindi Fortnight, which will be observed at the school from September 14 to September 28, 2026. The fortnight-long celebration aims to promote the use of Hindi, nurture students’ interest in the language, and encourage creativity through a wide range of literary and language-based activities.
The inaugural ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by School Principal K.S. Guleria, marking the formal commencement of the Hindi Fortnight. On the occasion, the Principal congratulated the Hindi Department and appreciated its efforts towards promoting the language among students.
Addressing the gathering, Principal K.S. Guleria directed all departments of the school to conduct their activities in Rajbhasha Hindi throughout the fortnight. He emphasized that from the morning assembly to the day-to-day academic and administrative activities, greater use of Hindi should be encouraged. He said that regular use of Hindi in school communication would help strengthen students’ connection with the language and contribute to its wider promotion.
Giving details about the activities planned during the fortnight, Hindi Department Head Sharmila said that a variety of competitions and creative activities have been designed to develop students’ interest, vocabulary, literary understanding, and creative expression in Hindi.
For Class VI, students of Sections A and B will participate in a “Shabd Vriksh” (Word Tree) activity, while students of Sections C and D will take part in a Hindi Slogan Writing Competition. For Class VII, Sections A and B will participate in a Synonyms Crossword, whereas Sections C and D will showcase their creativity through a Picture Story based on Hindi Idioms.
Students of Class VIII will participate in “Meri Hindi, Mera Samachar”, an activity designed to encourage students to present news and express themselves confidently in Hindi. For Class IX, a Hindi Literature Timeline Competition has been planned to help students explore important developments, writers, and milestones in Hindi literature in a creative and engaging manner.
In addition to these class-wise competitions, students will also get opportunities to showcase their talents through activities such as speech competitions, Hindi Antakshari, and Hindi poetry recitation/singing. These activities are intended to make Hindi learning enjoyable, interactive, and meaningful while providing students with a platform to demonstrate their linguistic and creative abilities.
The inauguration programme was attended by Principal K.S. Guleria, Sangeeta, Parul, Hindi Department Head Sharmila, Madhavi, Sunil Kumar, Harsh, Minakshi, Dimple, and Sanskrit Acharya Bhawani Singh Negi, along with other members of the teaching staff.
The school administration expressed hope that the Hindi Fortnight would inspire students to use Hindi with greater confidence and pride in their academic and daily lives. The initiative is also expected to strengthen awareness about the richness of Hindi language and literature while encouraging students to appreciate and preserve the linguistic and cultural heritage associated with it.
The grand beginning of the Hindi Fortnight at DAV Centenary Public School, Jawahar Nagar, Mandi, thus set the stage for two weeks of literary exploration, creativity, learning, and celebration of Hindi.
