9 Killed as Sleeper Bus Catches Fire on Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida.

At least nine people were killed after a sleeper bus travelling from Delhi to Bihar caught fire on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida early Thursday, police said.

The incident took place near the 33-kilometre milestone of the expressway, within the jurisdiction of the Jewar police station, according to officials.

The bus was carrying passengers from Delhi towards Bihar when it caught fire. The blaze engulfed the vehicle, resulting in the deaths of nine passengers. Police officials said further details regarding the circumstances leading to the fire were awaited.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police confirmed the fatalities, with the district police PRO stating that nine people had died in the incident. Authorities were working to gather more information about the accident and the identities of those killed.

CM Yogi Adityanath Expresses Condolences

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.

According to an official statement, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that the injured receive proper and immediate medical treatment. He also instructed the administration to provide all possible assistance to the families of the deceased after establishing communication with them.

Adityanath wished the injured passengers a speedy recovery and directed officials to take all necessary measures in response to the tragedy.

Police and other authorities are expected to provide further details as the investigation into the cause of the fire progresses.
