DEPwD Gears Up for Special Campaign 6.0 to Reduce Pendency, Reclaim Office Space and Promote E-Waste Management.

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) is gearing up for Special Campaign 6.0, aimed at reducing pending matters, improving cleanliness and record management, reclaiming office space and ensuring the responsible disposal of obsolete materials, particularly electronic waste (e-waste).
The month-long implementation phase of the campaign will be conducted from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with special emphasis on the effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste. The initiative is also intended to institutionalize cleanliness practices across DEPwD and its subordinate and attached organizations.
Launched by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), Special Campaign 6.0 focuses on institutionalizing Swachhata and minimizing pendency in government offices. The campaign is being conducted in two phases. The Preparatory Phase is underway from September 16 to September 30, 2026, followed by the Implementation Phase from October 2 to October 31, 2026.
DEPwD has established an institutional mechanism to implement the campaign effectively. A Nodal Officer has been nominated for the Department, while its Subordinate and Attached Offices, Public Sector Undertakings and Autonomous Bodies have been advised to nominate their respective Nodal Officers. These organizations have also been asked to identify pending matters in accordance with the parameters prescribed by DARPG.
Building on Special Campaign 5.0
The Department is building on the results achieved during Special Campaign 5.0, conducted from October 2 to October 31, 2025. During the campaign, DEPwD and its organizations achieved the targets set under the initiative.
According to the Department, 11,972 physical files and documents were digitized and weeded out, while approximately 15,588 square feet of office space was freed. The campaign also generated revenue of ₹14,47,619 through the disposal of identified obsolete materials.
In addition, 64 cleanliness campaigns covering indoor and outdoor spaces were organized by DEPwD and its organizations at locations across the country.
Focus on Sustained Cleanliness and Pendency Reduction
The Department’s efforts have continued beyond the completion of Special Campaign 5.0. In accordance with DARPG guidelines, DEPwD and its organizations have been undertaking cleanliness and pendency-reduction activities every month since November 2025.
The progress and achievements of these activities have also been regularly uploaded on the Special Campaign 6.0 Portal (SCDPM), reflecting an effort to maintain cleanliness and efficient record management as continuing administrative practices rather than limiting them to a one-time campaign.
E-Waste Disposal and Efficient Use of Public Resources
Special Campaign 6.0 will seek to bring together the objectives of cleanliness and good governance by addressing avoidable pendency, improving record management, freeing up usable office space and ensuring the responsible disposal of obsolete materials.
A particular focus will be placed on e-waste management, with the campaign emphasizing its proper collection, segregation and disposal. The initiative is expected to help offices deal systematically with redundant electronic equipment and other obsolete materials while promoting more efficient use of available resources.
The campaign will also focus on converting pending files, redundant materials and underutilized office space into opportunities for greater administrative efficiency, accountability and productivity.
DEPwD said concerted efforts would be undertaken by the Department and its organizations to achieve the targets identified during the preparatory phase and strengthen a culture of cleanliness, timely disposal of pending matters and efficient utilization of public resources.
The Department aims to make Special Campaign 6.0 an outcome-oriented exercise and carry forward its objectives as an integral part of day-to-day governance.
