Manali Civil Hospital Operations Halted for 2–3 Months Due to Shortage of Anaesthetist: Govind Singh Thakur.
Shimla:
Former Himachal Pradesh minister and senior BJP leader Govind Singh Thakur has raised concerns over the suspension of surgical operations at the Civil Hospital in Manali, alleging that the absence of an anaesthesia specialist has disrupted surgical services for the past two to three months.
Thakur said patients were facing difficulties even in getting routine surgical procedures performed at the government hospital due to the shortage of an anaesthetist. He expressed concern over the situation, particularly for poor and needy families who depend on government healthcare facilities for affordable medical treatment.
According to Thakur, the prolonged disruption of operations has created difficulties for patients who approach the hospital expecting timely medical assistance. He stressed that the availability of specialist doctors is essential to ensure the smooth functioning of hospital services and prevent patients from facing unnecessary hardships.
The BJP leader questioned the Congress-led state government over the alleged lack of adequate arrangements at the hospital and demanded attention to the healthcare needs of Manali residents.
“When will the people of Manali get better healthcare facilities?” Thakur asked, raising questions about the government’s response to the reported shortage of specialists.
He maintained that patients should not be forced to face prolonged delays in treatment because of the unavailability of essential medical personnel.
The issue has brought attention to the importance of ensuring adequate staffing at government hospitals, particularly in areas where residents rely heavily on public healthcare services.
