Mandi Administration Revises Road Closure Timings on Gutkar-Mandi Highway; Daytime Blockage Withdrawn.
Night-Time Traffic Restrictions at Mangwain Village to Continue from October 31 to November 9.
Shimla:
The Mandi district administration has revised the schedule of temporary road closures on the Gutkar-Mandi Highway at Chainage 250+400 near Mangwain village, providing relief to commuters by withdrawing the scheduled daytime traffic blockade from Monday to Saturday.
According to an amended order issued by District Magistrate Mandi Apoorv Devgan, IAS, the revised arrangements will remain effective from October 31 to November 9, 2026. The modifications have been made in continuation of the previous order issued on October 24, 2026, under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
As per the revised schedule, the first road blockage, which was earlier scheduled from 11 am to 2.30 pm from Monday to Saturday, has been completely withdrawn. This will allow uninterrupted vehicular movement during these daytime hours, providing considerable convenience to daily commuters, office-goers, students and other road users travelling between Gutkar and Mandi.
However, the timing of the second road blockage has been revised. Earlier, traffic restrictions were scheduled from 7 pm to 6.30 am. Under the amended order, the road will now remain blocked from 10 pm to 6 am, reducing the duration of the night-time restriction.
The administration has also revised the traffic restriction schedule for Sundays. On Sundays, the road blockage will remain in force only from 10 pm to 6 am. No road blockage will be permitted during any other hours on Sundays, ensuring traffic movement throughout the day.
The amended order has come into force with immediate effect and will remain operational until November 9, 2026. The District Magistrate has clarified that all other terms and conditions mentioned in the earlier order dated October 24 will remain unchanged.
Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Superintendent of Police, Mandi; Project Director, MoRTH-PIU Shimla; Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Sadar; Regional Manager, HRTC Mandi; and District Public Relations Officer, Mandi, for necessary compliance and wide publicity.
The revised schedule is expected to provide relief to commuters, particularly during daytime hours, while allowing the necessary work-related restrictions to continue during the night.
