Shimla:

The Punjab National Bank Rural Self Employment Training Institute (PNB RSETI) has launched the second batch of a 10-day Travel and Tourist Guide training program in the picturesque Tirthan Valley in Kullu district. This initiative aims to empower local youth and women, responding to the growing demand for trained guides in the region known for its stunning landscapes and the Great Himalayan National Park.

The program, sponsored by the Ministry of Rural Development, commenced on Saturday and includes 35 participants, among whom 12 are women. This follows the successful completion of the first batch, which included 35 trainees, 10 of whom were also women.

The training is crucial as tourism continues to expand in the area, offering significant self-employment opportunities for locals. Saurabh Upadhyay, program coordinator at PNB RSETI, emphasized that the course not only equips participants with essential skills but also provides certificates that facilitate access to bank loans for those wishing to start their own businesses in the tourism sector.

The trained guides will offer visitors insightful information about the valley’s rich biodiversity, including local flora and fauna, as well as the cultural heritage of the region, enhancing the overall tourist experience.

As tourism flourishes in Tirthan Valley, initiatives like this training program are vital in building a knowledgeable workforce capable of showcasing the area’s natural beauty and cultural significance.
