IIT Mandi Celebrates 12th Convocation, Recognizing 636 Graduates and Commitment to Diversity.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi held its 12th Convocation, honoring 636 graduates across various disciplines, including 53 Ph.D. recipients and 271 B.Tech graduates. This year’s ceremony showcased a significant increase in female representation, rising from 23.36% in 2023 to 27.20% in 2024, with 463 male and 173 female graduates.

Shashwat Gupta was awarded the President of India Gold Medal for achieving the highest CGPA among undergraduate students, while Jain Hiya Sudhir and Devanshu Sajwan were recognized for their exemplary performances.

The event featured distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Manoj Jain, Chairman & Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Limited, alongside Guests of Honor such as Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, and Dr. Narendra Kumar Arya from DRDO. In his address, Jain commended IIT Mandi for its impactful educational contributions and encouraged graduates to drive India’s development ambitions.

Lt. Gen. Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon (Retd.), Board of Governor IIT Mandi, highlighted the Institute’s dedication to nurturing future leaders, noting the recent establishment of the Centre for Climate Change and Disaster Resilience (C3DAR) to tackle national challenges in disaster management and sustainability.

Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera congratulated the graduates and reiterated IIT Mandi’s commitment to academic excellence and infrastructure development. The convocation underscored the Institute’s focus on diversity, sustainability, and innovative research, solidifying its position as a leader in the global academic community.
