Union Minister Honors National Toppers in Disability Rehabilitation and Special Education.

Students excelling in special education and disability rehabilitation were recognized today at a convocation ceremony at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, organized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and the National Rehabilitation Examination Board. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, was the Chief Guest, with Minister of State,  B.L. Verma, attending as Guest of Honour.

In his address, Dr. Kumar emphasized that the convocation marks a significant milestone in the lives of students, highlighting that education empowers them to serve society. He noted the inspirational role of students with disabilities, asserting that physical challenges should not impede educational attainment. He praised the RCI for its crucial role in supporting children with disabilities within the educational framework.

Minister of State B.L. Verma congratulated the top performers, stating that education is fundamental to social empowerment. He expressed pride in the achievements of students with disabilities, who are setting new benchmarks in education.

Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, underscored the vital role of teachers in transforming students’ lives. He encouraged students to pursue careers in special education and disability rehabilitation, highlighting the promising opportunities in the field.

The ceremony honored 16 students, including three with disabilities, and witnessed the launch of two new courses—ISITEP and B.Sc. Clinical Psychology (Hons.). The event was attended by RCI Chairperson Sharanjeet Kaur, Member Secretary Vikas Trivedi, and various officials and experts from the field.
