Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron Strengthens Maritime Ties with Oman.
Oman:
Indian Naval Ships Tir, Shardul, and Indian Coast Guard Ship Veera, part of the First Training Squadron (1TS), have arrived in Muscat, Oman, for a long-range training deployment aimed at enhancing maritime cooperation. The ships docked on October 5, 2024, marking their third visit to Oman in a decade.
During their stay from October 5 to 9, the Indian Navy will engage in various maritime security discussions and joint exercises with the Royal Navy of Oman. Activities will include harbor interactions, professional exchanges, and friendly sports fixtures, all designed to bolster interoperability and training collaboration between the two navies.
Coinciding with the visit, Vice Admiral V Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, is in Oman for official discussions with key military leaders, including VAdm Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, and RAdm Saif bin Nasser bin Mohsen Al-Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman. His agenda includes visits to key defense and training installations in the region.
This deployment underscores the ongoing commitment of both nations to strengthening their defense relations, following the recent 6th edition of staff talks held in New Delhi in June 2024.
