Panchayat Poll Results Show Public Discontent: BJP leader Rakesh Jamwal.

BJP chief spokesperson and Sundernagar MLA Rakesh Jamwal on Thursday said the results of the Panchayati Raj elections have exposed the claims of the Congress government about returning to power in 2027.

Reacting to the election of District Council (Zila Parishad) presidents and vice-presidents, Jamwal claimed that the BJP has secured control of 10 out of 11 Zila Parishads in Himachal Pradesh. He said the results indicate growing dissatisfaction with the Congress government in rural areas.

Jamwal said that after Hamirpur, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s home district, the ruling party also suffered a setback in Shimla. He questioned how the Congress could claim public support despite having ministers, MLAs and other leaders campaigning at the local level.

He said voters in rural areas judge governments on issues such as roads, healthcare, transport, employment and the functioning of government offices. According to him, the election results reflect public dissatisfaction with the government’s performance.

Jamwal also accused the Congress government of shutting down institutions for political reasons and neglecting development and rural issues.

He said Chief Minister Sukhu should focus on a “mission correction” instead of “mission repeat” and take the election results as a political warning ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
